Over nearly 50 albums in numerous guises, Joe Camilleri has forged a mighty reputation as one of the great auteurs of roots rock. The Black Sorrows has been his primary vehicle for more than 35 years, an ongoing act of collaboration with many of Australia’s most accomplished musicians stirring a huge melting pot of influences from Moscow to New Orleans. The Sorrows are a household name by virtue of a handful of pop-soul crossover LPs at the cusp of the 90’s, but chasing platinum isn’t Joe’s style.
